Nokia N900 Hands-on Video

My good pal Mark Guim of The Nokia Blog was able to ask for a demo from Nokia Maemo Devices Marketing Manager, Jussi Makinen at Nokia World 2009. Jussi demos the N900’s contacts, video player, camera, gallery, web browser, spin zooms, mouse pointers, and YouTube.

Thanks Mark!

Nokia N900 First Impressions

Nokia N900 First Impressions

Alan Bruce (qole) of the maemo.org Community Council just released his fist impressions / mini-review of the Nokia N900. There are several new bits of information on his review about the size, screen, UI, keyboard, stylus(!), 3D game, video, camera, Linux, Skype, Dataviz ’s
Docs to Go, etc. — lots of great info you won’t find in videos.

Check it out!

Maemo Linked Internet UI Concept

Here’s a must have app that is coming to the Nokia N900 and to Maemo. The Link Internet UI Concept lets you aggregate you contacts/friends information across different social networks, follow links, as well as search content from these services.

While termed as ‘concept,’ there is no word yet wether this is already the engine behind the conversations and contact features of the N900.

Are you ready for Nokia World 2009?

Are you ready for Nokia World 2009?

This is it! Nokia World 2009 is scheduled to kick off in a few hours at Stuttgart, Germany, with the first keynote from Nokia President and CEO, Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo scheduled at 9:00 AM CEST (3:00 AM EST).

What are we expecting on Nokia World 2009 as Maemo enthusiasts? Well, for starters, this will be the first time the Nokia N900 will be revealed to the public. We’ve seen videos of the fabulous user interface of the Nokia N900 and this is the time when all the press and tech blogs will start scrutinizing all it’s features.

Andrew Flegg and Tim Samoff, maemo.org Community Council reps will be there to cover the event via Twitter (using #maemo5 and #NW09 tags). We are hoping to relay what ever they see and hear at Nokia World, as well as report on the answers to the questions everyone has been posting for them to ask (it’s not late to add your questions to the list!).

Nokia Maemo Devices marketing head, Peter Schneider, and marketing manager, Jussi Makinen will be there as well. We hope that they will keep tweeting via their N900s.

Good pals Ricky Cadden of Maemo-Guru, Mark Guim of The Nokia Blog, and Rafe Blandford of All About Symbian are also there, so we hope to get reports from them as well.

Lastly, there is this rumor that a big announcement is coming. It’s highly unlikely but hey, we’ll take any good news anytime.

We’re excited, are you?

Welcome to Maemo Talk!

Welcome to Maemo Talk!

Internet Tablet Talk is now known as Maemo Talk! Think of Maemo Talk (MT) as Internet Tablet Talk (itT) 2.0, with no ads(!), but with more information.

Maemo Talk aims to scour the net and report the latest and most interesting news, reviews, tips, and discussions on everything Maemo. We also plan on providing reviews, editorials, interviews, podcasts, as well as hold live online events.

Note that the site doesn’t have forum section since we believe that all discussions and brainstorming should be done over at maemo.org, the official community site for Maemo enthusiasts. As maemo.org regulars, we are helping promote maemo.org by listing the latest maemo.org discussions, news, and brainstorming topics here at Maemo Talk.

Maemo Talk is still work in progress. If you have comments, suggestions, or good ideas on improving the site or, if you would like to volunteer to become a staff of Maemo Talk, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

Thank you for visiting Maemo Talk and we hope to see you again soon!
