I know he intends to open-source the code, but I'm not sure when this will occur, nor when the app itself would be available to download. I haven't tracked down where Karsten's Identity application is located (I haven't tracked down Karsten, for that matter), but my understanding is that that code is rather processor-intensive so having sufficient CPUs may be the biggest barrier to doing it yourself at home.
